**Some Student Activities vary depending on student interest **
STUDENT COUNCIL – Two students from each grade beginning in 3rd serve alongside leadership from the graduating class in the student council. The entire student council votes for the student council president, vice president, and treasurer among the 8th-grade representatives. The student council meets at least once a month with Ms. Rosa to discuss service projects and ways to improve the school.
SAFETY PATROL – Students in middle school may volunteer to serve as members of the Safety Patrol. These students help to walk preschoolers to class, bring children to and from their cars, and ensure school safety every arrival and dismissal. Ms. Nair is the sponsor of the Safety Patrol and is responsible for their training.
SOCCER - Available after school on Thursdays for students of grades 4-8. Coached by Mr. Hernandez. They compete against other local schools.
Karate - Two professional Karate instructors come to St. John's every Monday and Tuesday. Students of all grades are welcome.
Ballet - Offered to girls of any grade. Our ballet instructor is a SJES graduate with years of experience in advanced dance and ballet.
ART – Art is a regular part of the curriculum. Outstanding artwork is collected and presented in exhibits thoughout the year and featured on the walls and windows..
READING PROGRAM - We are proud of our partnership with St. Thomas. We share the goal of fostering children's learning beyond the classroom. St. Thomas sponsors a program started in 2024 with the goal of putting a book in every child's hands. Students read a collection of donated books throughout the year with the additional goal of expanding their vocabularies and mastery of reading comprehension.
ANNUAL CLASS TRIPS – Field trips that reinforce the curriculum are encouraged. St. John's tries to provide several trips during the year - both out of and in school. We visit the Miami Zoo, Frost Science Museum, Episcopal Cathedral, local farms, Cybrarium, and more! The graduating class has their annual Grad Bash in popular theme parks such as Busch Gardens and Disney.
ACOLYTE & READER – Many students volunteer to read bible stories to the entire school during morning prayers. Some students will also carry the cross and candles for the Priest during Eucharist.
COMPUTER & CODING CLASS - Thanks to Ocean Reef Community Foundation, we have upgraded our computer lab and now offer coding classes! These classes are held during the regular school day so all students can take advantage of this program!
